FAQ
Do I have to go to several shops?
No. gspart finds the one shop near you where your entire shopping costs the least. If an item isn’t listed online there, we use the usual price – the shop usually has it anyway.
Does speaking work on every phone?
On iPhone (Safari) and Android (Chrome), gspart listens directly. Where the browser can’t do this, gspart shows you how to use the microphone on your keyboard instead – that works on any phone. And typing always works anyway.
Is my voice recorded?
gspart doesn’t store any recordings. Speech recognition is handled by your phone or your browser (Apple on iPhone, Google on Android). gspart only receives the recognised text – in other words, your shopping list.
Where do the prices come from?
From the publicly available online prices of the supermarket chains. They are updated continuously. From these we calculate an approximate total per shop – prices in the shop may differ. gspart is independent and has no connection with the supermarket chains. Information for retail companies
Why can’t I see individual prices?
Because before you go shopping, only one thing matters: where the whole lot costs the least. You can see the individual prices right on the shelf.
How accurate is the total?
It’s an estimate using the cheapest option for each item – or your favourite brand, if gspart knows it from your receipts. Special offers and price changes in the shop may lead to differences.
Why should I upload my receipt?
So you can see what you really spent – per month and per shop – and how much you saved by comparing first. gspart also learns your favourite brands, so your next comparisons become more accurate. If you forget a receipt, the app reminds you with the date.
What happens to my receipts?
Text recognition runs directly on your phone. The photo is only used for reading and isn’t stored anywhere. The recognised items and amounts – your spending – stay exclusively on your phone. More on this in our Privacy Policy.
My receipt is very long – what should I do?
Take a photo of the top part first. After each photo, gspart asks: “Scan finished” or “Long receipt? Scan next part”. This way you scan the receipt piece by piece until the final total is included.
Is the app really free?
Yes, permanently. Before each price comparison you see a short ad – that’s how gspart is funded. With Premium the ads disappear; it can be cancelled at any time with effect from the end of the current term (Terms).
Do I need an account? Am I being tracked?
No. gspart works without sign-up, without an advertising ID and without tracking. Your list, receipts and location stay on your phone. We only need your email address for Premium. Everything else is in our Privacy Policy.
